About the Chesley & District Health Services Foundation

The Chesley and District Memorial Hospital Foundation was created as a separate entity and by-laws were created in 1994.  Before this it had been a part of the governing Board of Directors of the hospital. Founding members of the Foundation are Robert Hutchinson - Chair, Guy Kirvan - Sec. Treas., Donna Thomson, Peter Loucks and Cliff Rier. The purpose of the Foundation was “to receive and maintain a fund or funds and to apply from time to time all or part thereof and the income therefrom to and for the benefit of the Chesley and District Memorial Hospital. At the time of its inception there were 5 directors. In 2004 a by-law was revised to increase the number of members to 11.  Nine of these members represent, and are elected from Chesley, Brant, Bentinck, Arran-Elderslie, Arran-Tara, Sullivan and the hospital Auxilliary. A representative also comes from the Board of Directors of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, and the CEO and/or administrator of the Health Centre.  The name of the foundation was also updated in 2004.

All monies raised benefit health care at the Chesley site of the SBGHC, in the form of equipment or renovations.  Since 1994, with the generosity of the community, the Foundation has been able to purchase items and make renovations valuing over One Million Dollars from 2000 to 2008.
